Westminster City Council have issued local consultation information about changes to road safety at and around the junction of Hyde Park Street, Connaught Street and Hyde Park Square. This includes a new zebra crossing at the north end of Hyde Park Street. You can view a copy of the letter sent to local residents at this link.
This is one of the improvements promised by our Ward Councillors to support the HPEA in making our area safer and reducing rat-running. Please support the proposals by Friday 5 April, by emailing WCC-Consultation@wsp.com, quoting reference C.WD12786/MC/LSS/Hyde Park Street, or write to Hyde Park Street Proposals, FM Conway Ltd/WSP, 25 Mandela Way, London SE1 5SZ.
You may recall that there were other improvements promised; here is a brief update:
Strathearn Place - zebra crossing: a further zebra crossing has already been consulted on, located towards the western end of Strathearn Place. Unfortunately the consultation information was issued to an incorrectly selected group of local residents, and furthermore was not issued to the HPEA. A petition of local residents has collected 145 signatures in support of the crossing and we have asked WCC to revisit their decision on this.
Hyde Park Crescent - zebra crossing: we are still awaiting details of this proposal.
Clarendon Place - safety improvements at the junction with Bayswater Road (mainly additional double yellow lines near the junction): the works are being carried out.
Thank you for your support for these important road safety improvements.
