Ward Panel and Neighbourhood Forum

By Antonia Cox  Published On May 13, 2024

Residents may be aware that there is a body through which local residents can feed their concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour into the Metropolitan Police. This body is called the Ward Panel.

The Ward Panel meets locally several times a year under the chairmanship of our honorary president, Dr Allen Zimbler. Meetings are attended by the local police team. Currently there are vacancies for residents. The next meeting will take place on 28th May.  If you are interested please contact Dr Zimbler on allen.zimbler@gmail.com.

Also, remember that that security patrols paid for by the Church Commissioners via the service charges on their blocks continue to cover the Hyde Park Estate from 7 pm to 7 am. The team can be reached on 07880 680257.

Members interested in voluntary work for the community may also be interested in joining the Hyde Park Paddington Neighbourhood Forum. https://www.hydeparkpaddington.org/
It has a role in shaping planning policies and determining how funds contributed by developers are spent on the area’s needs. The AGM takes place on 3rd June. Applicants are encouraged to contact one of the existing members – listed on the website – to find out what is involved. We can help with contact details if required.

Many members will remember the late Alderman Anne Mallinson OBE JP of Albion Street for her work as a Westminster City councillor and for many charities.  I was able to represent the Association at her funeral earlier this year and  Sally Martin will be representing us on Friday. Other members who knew Anne are invited to the service of thanksgiving at St John’s Church on Friday 17th May at 12 noon.
